What started out as an academic class at Berklee College of Music in has quickly become one of the coolest new global acts to emerge from Boston. The Berklee Indian Ensemble boasts musicians and performers from around the world, blending classical, folk, Sufi and contemporary Indian music with influences from hip hop, jazz, Middle Eastern and African music to produce a whole new Indian sound. With high-profile collaborations featuring artists like A. Rahman, Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal and Vijay Prakash, the ensemble is in high demand, playing sold-out shows at premier venues, including the Boston Symphony Hall, and international festivals like the Bengaluru Ganesh Utsav in India.
